On the way up to Merbabu I lost my friends not much before the summit and neither could find them during the descent. We missed each other due to different sleeping schedules.
Down at the basecamp I waited for some hours staring at Merapi, sleeping on the street, enjoying fresh air and eating unindentifiable spicy cheap street food from nylon bag.
Right when I decided to leave alone, two of my worn out fellows showed up covered by volcanic dust. They had a hint to a waterfall, which turned out be just on our way back to Jogja. So we went.
Litter and uproarious locals everywhere.

On Sunday I climbed my first volcano.
It is Gunung Merbabu, just behind the most wanted Merapi, which is closed due to lava flows. I rented one scooter for a day, shortly after midnight with some bule friends we headed to the mountain. Sunrise came 1.5 hours before the top.
There were herds of campers everywhere just like disgusting amounts of litter.
Not a difficult climb but the volcanic dust doesent help either.
